Proud to have been Judge in International Design Awards

June, 2013

I was honoured to have been chosen as a Judge for the Christchurch section of the recent Living Labs Global Awards.

Twenty cities were selected for the awards from 350 nominations. Each city had to pick an urban challenge they wanted a solution for, before the competition to find the winning design began. The challenge set down for Christchurch was to produce an effective lighting design for Cathedral Square.

The goal of the designers was to create a flexible system that could work for urban services but also become a central attraction for residents and visitors alike.

I was one of five judges, which included one from New York and another from Europe. This was great for the city because it gave us the chance to look at a number of different designs from around the world and see which one we thought would work best for Christchurch. This was a great experience for me and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
